Smile design: this includes all procedures to improve the appearance of a person's teeth, gums, to improve color, size, shape using resin or ceramic veneers, gingivoplasty, and tooth whitening.
Whitening using an LED lamp in the dental practice: Teeth whitening is a procedure conducted using a chemical agent. It organizes the organic components that generate yellowish or brownish shades when refracting light, and it gives teeth lighter shades.
It is important to bear in mind that these substances do not alter the composition of dental enamel, nor do they degrade the enamel’s proteins as long as patients undergo controlled treatment.
Dental sensitivity associated to teeth whitening is reversible and may be controlled using toothpaste and/or mouthwashes.
There are three ways to perform this treatment:
Tray teeth whitening: Patients apply a gel bleaching agent into one of their personalized trays, and they will wear it every day for the time their dentist has specified. It is a longer process but it has great results in matters concerning the shades obtained.
Whitening using an LED lamp in the dental practice: This procedure is conducted applying a chemical agent using a greater concentration to reach Shades faster and eliminate more complex pigmentations. The process is accelerated using an LED lamp, yet the shades obtained will last less than the shades obtained using tray teeth whitening.
Combining the two techniques: tray teeth whitening and in practice whitening with an LED lamp: the two techniques are used together seeking better results regarding shades and the durability of the shades obtained.
After undergoing whitening, may I retouch my teeth?
After finishing a whitening treatment, people may retouch their teeth after one year and when their dentist authorizes it. It is a delicate treatment which may produce severe consequences if it is not performed adequately and under professional supervision.
